Health and Physical Education: Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies
Physical Education is a specialist subject area at Bourchier Street Primary School. Engaging students in Physical activities, games, sport and outdoor recreations helps to promote a healthy lifestyle and improve wellbeing. Bourchier Street offers it's students the opportunity to be involved in individual, non-competitive activities as well as team orientated competitive games. Students are encouraged to participate in year level and whole school events such as athletics days, fun run, winter sport and swimming as well as Inter-school sports days. Physical Education at Bourchier Street in designed to be fun, safe, and enjoyable for all involved whilst teaching and developing motor skills and fitness. Students often form effective relationships with their peers and develop strategies and tactics for managing and resolving issues in both physical activities and life situations
Term by Term Activities
This term Junior school will be Participating in a Percuptual Motor Program which focuses on the students fine and gross motor skills which are fundamental in their development for all sports in later years..
This term Middle school will be focusing on Tee Ball and Tennis as the two major units. Lessons will focus on learning the rules and skills of the sports, finishing with applying those skills learnt to a game situation.
This term Senior school will be focusing on Tee Ball and Tennis as the two major units. Lessons will focus on learning the rules and skills of the sports, whilst also working in teams to develop tactics for game situations. Students will develop skills and teamwork to enable them to participate in sports outside of school.
